The blackboard from a lecture I gave today on Derrida and Coetzee’s Foe, where we talked about the spatial metaphors of phallocentric structures. The phrase you see on the left is “seminal event.” The figure makes that explicit. When I asked the class what happens after the event, one student said, “the center rolls over and falls asleep.”
